Health Hacks
The aim here is to create a simple weekly or monthly update — a meaningful “nudge” to help people stay on track with their oral health. Ideally, we’d have someone like Rory Sutherland helping us make prevention genuinely appealing.
Here’s the reality: very few people get excited about mouth health, but almost everyone cares about having a great smile. The trouble is, the pursuit of the “perfect” smile can sometimes make people more vulnerable to dental problems — and higher lifetime costs — if it involves aggressive or repeated cosmetic work.
My approach is straightforward:
Orthodontics (done well) can be a great investment — but retainers are non-negotiable.
Tooth whitening is often a sensible, conservative option when done safely.
If you’re considering veneers, choose carefully. Porcelain is often the more durable option, but only if you protect your teeth with a night guard every night (especially if you clench or grind).
A better smile is a lovely goal — but the best smile is the one that still works brilliantly in 10, 20, and 30 years.
I made the viceo a while back, I’m leaming against a wall, a quads exercise most skiiers use too late.
This is an older video that incorporates Yoga while cleaning your teeth. But if you don’t think you like the idea, think of it as mindfullness.
Below was my Christmas marketing idea. I’ll save it for next year. if you have any hacks we can use please forward them…

Christmas Quiz, and Answers
This will just be available till the New year, and a clear ploy to get people to look at the website and help provide enough encouragement, and possibly income to make a DHS App. Please sign the petition.
For those of you who want to know how to make your own Christmas Dental video message on your phone for your practice, patients, family or friends it’s on Denflix.co.uk. It’s a fun way to spread prevention, and look at the other twenty videos that have the text you can add your voice to in the New Year.
The best form of market in dentistry is still WOM-word of mouth. Please use yours!
The idea is if you download the answers, you become the quizmaster and either printout the pictures above, or to be green send the link to the YouTube teeth4life channel for anyone with a phone to look at the questions on their phone. If they get 12/12 they get disqualified for cheating, as they must have looked at the answers below.
The idea is to scroll through them on a phone, or safer print them or show them on a screen, and a time limit.
I’m trying to encourage people to make their own videos dressed appropriately to give their own Christmas Greeting and send to patients family and friends if you are part of the dental team. There are 12 to choose from on the Denflix.co.uk website. I’ll add mine at the end…after the jokes…

SOME TRIVEA IF YOU ARE A QUIZMASTER
PLAYING WITH FRIENDS AS A GROUP
### A Fairytale of New York – The Pogues & Kirsty MacColl (1987)
Recorded in London, fuelled by grit rather than tinsel . Kirsty MacColl wasn’t the first choice but absolutely made the song iconic. Shane MacGowan reportedly insisted on multiple versions. Regularly voted the UK’s favourite Christmas song — despite (or because of) its glorious lack of cheer.
—
### All I Want for Christmas Is You – Mariah Carey (1994 / hit No.1 in 2019)
Written in just **15 minutes** . It earns Mariah millions every December
. Inspired by Phil Spector’s Wall of Sound, it took **25 years** to reach UK No.1. Mariah officially “defrosts” each November — modern Christmas royalty
.
—
### Merry Xmas Everybody – Slade (1973)
Shouted, stompy, and impossible to ignore . Recorded during a heatwave — hence the fake snow
. Went straight to No.1 and still charts every year. Noddy Holder’s hat deserves its own BAFTA. One of the UK’s best-selling singles ever.
—
### I Wish It Could Be Christmas Everyday – Wizzard (1973)
Released the same week as Slade — unlucky timing . Only reached No.4 but became a festive classic anyway. Roy Wood wore full wizard robes in performances
. Features a children’s choir and maximum glam rock chaos. Christmas never sounded so busy.
—
### Happy Xmas (War Is Over) – John Lennon & Yoko Ono (1971)
A Christmas song with a protest placard . Backed by the Harlem Community Choir. The slogan “War Is Over (If You Want It)” appeared on billboards worldwide. One of the few festive songs to double as a peace anthem. Still powerful, mince pie or not.
—
### Last Christmas – Wham! (1984 / hit No.1 in 2021)
George Michael wrote and produced it himself . Kept off No.1 by Band Aid — awkwardly, George played on both
. Finally hit UK No.1 **37 years later**. The video features jumpers, skiing, and unresolved festive tension
.
—
### Driving Home for Christmas – Chris Rea (1986)
Written while stuck in traffic . Originally a B-side — blink and you’d miss it. Now the official soundtrack of motorway misery in December. Quiet, reflective, and very British
. Proof you don’t need bells to sound Christmassy.
—
### Do They Know It’s Christmas? – Band Aid (1984)
Recorded in a single day . Raised millions for Ethiopian famine relief. Featured nearly every UK pop star going — Bono’s line was added last-minute
. Fastest-selling UK single at the time. Charity, mullets, and good intentions combined.
—
### Santa Claus Is Comin’ to Town – Bruce Springsteen (1985)
Recorded live in 1975 but officially released in 1985 . Features spoken asides, sax solos, and maximum Boss energy. Sounds like Santa’s joined the E Street Band. Possibly the only version where Father Christmas might ride a motorbike
.
—
### Peace on Earth / Little Drummer Boy – Bing Crosby & David Bowie (1977)
Recorded for Bing’s TV special . Bowie disliked *Little Drummer Boy*, so new verses were written just before recording. Two generations, one song, zero rehearsal
. Hugely unlikely — utterly magical. Christmas television history at its best.
—
### White Christmas – Bing Crosby (1942)
The **best-selling single of all time** . Written by Irving Berlin, who was Jewish. First appeared in *Holiday Inn*. Crosby re-recorded it in 1947 due to worn master tapes
. The blueprint for every nostalgic Christmas song since.
—
### Christmas Time (Don’t Let the Bells End) – The Darkness (2003)
Nearly called *Don’t Let the Bells Toll* — record label panic ensued . Features a key change, falsetto, and an innuendo-filled countdown
. Peaked at No.2 but became a cult classic. Proof Christmas can rock — in catsuits.

I initially copied a dingbats to play with some friends around Christmas, and then bought I’d make a picture one.
As many people aren’t interested in their teeth until they have a problem, I thought this may a healthy hook as around Christmas everyone likes a quiz, and a few daft jokes, which I’ve added below.
You will have to provide the food and drink, and real crackers with hats.
These are the CHRISTMAS DINGBATS
If you got this far, and are feeling generous, please make a donation to this Dental Charity for schoolchildren. It’s called the Magic dentist and details are on this Magic Dentist Christmas Video.
And to finish a few traditional Christmas crackers. You have been warned🫣
