Dental Emergency Chatbots
During the COVID pandemic, access to dentists became extremely limited and remote triage became much more important.
Dental emergency advice itself has changed relatively little over the years. What has changed dramatically is the technology available to deliver that advice.
This creates an opportunity for a modern Dental Health Service to provide digital triage and advice through a website or personalised app, available whenever people need it.
A personalised Dental Health Service
The vision is to develop a Dental Health Service app that supports prevention, improves access to reliable advice and allows people to build a useful personal oral-health record.
Routine information such as periodontal screening scores and other risk factors could help people monitor their oral health over time. The same platform could also allow members of the dental team to promote their own preventive services and advice.
With the right support, a new DHS app could connect prevention, monitoring, professional guidance and the wider wellbeing of the public.
Collaboration on the War on Sugar, UPFs & UPDs
Oral health should be part of an integrated health service. Tooth decay, obesity, diabetes and other diet-related conditions share important risk factors, particularly our exposure to sugar and highly processed foods.
Digital tools can help people make more informed choices and could eventually provide personalised preventive support β with the individual's consent.
The reward could be better health and less treatment. Although most testing still appears to show people prefer chocolate. π€¨
Two useful examples are Yuka and Food Scanner.
